Our Estate Planning Services
A Clear Plan for What Matters Most
Thoughtful, high-touch estate planning for families and professionals who want clarity, protection, and peace of mind.
You’ve worked hard to build a career, a home, and a life that reflects your values.
For many people, that includes children who depend on you. For others, it may be a partner, aging parents, business interests, or a legacy you’re intentionally shaping.
Estate planning isn’t about paperwork. It’s about ensuring that if life changes unexpectedly, your decisions — not the court’s — guide what happens next.
I work with busy parents and professionals who want to be prepared for life’s changes but aren’t sure where to start. Together, we clarify key decisions about family, finances, and legacy — and create a plan that fits your life through a seamless, modern process.
This Is For You If…
You have children and want clarity about who would step in and how they would be provided for.
You have a partner or family members who rely on you and deserve thoughtful protection.
You’ve built assets — property, investments, business interests — and want them handled intentionally.
You value discretion, efficiency, and doing important things well.
You’ve meant to “get around to it,” but you’re ready to handle it now — calmly and correctly.
The Real Reason Families Delay
Most people I meet are not avoiding estate planning because they don’t care.
They delay because it feels complicated, they don’t know where to begin, or they assume it’s something for “later.” Some have watched friends navigate probate and would rather not repeat that experience.
For parents, the question often begins with, “If something happened to us, what would happen to our kids?” For others, it may be, “How do I make sure what I’ve built is protected and directed intentionally?”
Either way, the goal is the same: clarity, control, and protection.
When your plan is complete, you don’t think about it every day. You simply live, knowing it’s handled.

Meet Your Attorney
Hi, I’m Chris Terril.
I founded Keepsake Legal to serve families in our community who have built meaningful lives and want their planning handled carefully and correctly.
Over the past decade, I’ve practiced law at a high level, representing clients in complex matters where precision and clarity mattered. But it was becoming a husband and father here in the East Bay that shaped how I approach estate planning. I understand what it feels like to carry real responsibility — for your children, your partner, your parents, your work, and the assets you’ve worked hard to build.
My role is to make this process clear and steady. We’ll talk through the decisions that matter most, and I’ll translate them into documents that are legally sound, thoughtfully structured, and easy to understand. Families often tell me they appreciate that our meetings feel calm and collaborative — not rushed or intimidating. That’s intentional.
This work is personal, and it deserves care.
When you’re ready, I’d love to meet with you and answer your questions.
How It Works
Every plan is tailored, but the path forward is straightforward. Let’s take a look at the process of working together.
Initial Orientation
We begin with a clear roadmap. During your initial orientation, we outline your goals, timeline, and next steps — along with flat, predictable fees so you know exactly what to expect. You’ll leave with clarity about the structure ahead and confidence in how we’ll move forward.
Design Consultation
In your detailed design consultation, we explore your family’s values and long-term priorities. This is where thoughtful legal craftsmanship meets real life — including blended families, cross-cultural households, and LGBTQ+ families. Your plan is shaped around what matters most.
Drafting & Review
We carefully draft your documents and guide you through them in plain language. Every element is intentionally designed — streamlined, thorough, and aligned with your goals. You’ll have space to ask questions, refine details, and feel fully confident before signing.
Signing Day
By signing day, your completed plan is organized, polished, and ready to protect your loved ones. Meetings can take place in our office, virtually, or from the comfort of your home with our mobile notary service. The process concludes with clarity — not complexity.
What’s Included
Your plan includes more than most people expect.
From essential documents to funding guidance and thoughtful structuring, every element is designed to work together seamlessly. And because life changes, your plan can be revisited when needed — so it continues to reflect your family, your assets, and your goals over time.
-
Your trust provides the framework for how your assets are managed and distributed after your death — without the delays and public process of probate. It allows you to name trustees, establish clear instructions, and structure distributions in a way that reflects your family’s needs and long-term intentions.
-
These documents authorize someone you trust to make medical decisions on your behalf if you’re unable to do so, ensuring your wishes are respected and allowing your chosen agent to act without unnecessary barriers.
-
A financial power of attorney allows a trusted person to manage your financial affairs if you become temporarily or permanently unable to do so. This can include paying bills, managing investments, and handling legal or property matters, depending on the authority you grant.
-
If you have minor children, you may formally nominate the person you would want appointed as their guardian. While the court makes the final appointment, your nomination carries significant weight and provides important guidance during a difficult time.
-
Creating a trust is only part of the process. You’ll receive clear instructions for aligning your accounts and property with your plan — including deeds, title transfers, and beneficiary designations — so your trust functions as intended.
-
We’ll execute your documents either at my office or at your location with a mobile notary — some clients even choose to make it a signing gathering at home. Once complete, your estate plan is professionally printed and organized in a Keepsake Legal binder. You’ll receive your complete set of signed original documents, prepared and ready to keep.
-
Every comprehensive plan includes a complimentary three-year checkup — helping ensure your plan continues to reflect your wishes and support the people you love.
Investment
Estate planning is a thoughtful decision that protects the people and assets you care about for decades to come.
I use flat fees — not hourly billing — so you know exactly what to expect before we begin.
Comprehensive estate plans typically begin around $5,000, with final fees based on the complexity of your assets, family structure, and planning goals.
Before any drafting starts, you’ll receive a clear, all-in proposal outlining scope and cost. There are no hourly surprises or open-ended billing — just a defined plan and a defined investment.
Families who choose Keepsake Legal do so because they value thoughtful guidance, precision, and long-term clarity. That’s the standard I hold for every family I serve here in our community.
Putting a thoughtful plan in place isn’t about expecting the worst. It’s about ensuring that the people and priorities that matter most are protected with clarity and intention. When you decide to move forward, you should feel guided, not overwhelmed — confident, not rushed.
If you’re ready to put that clarity in place, let’s begin.
